11 British Judoka Ready for Lausanne Grand Slam 2026

Eleven British judoka will compete this weekend at the Ecole Mont-Olivet Lausanne Grand Slam 2026, as they look to secure strong performances and valuable ranking points on the road to the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
Charlie Ayre (Tees Valley JC) returns to action in the -60kg category for the first time since making his Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow, where he claimed bronze. Just a month earlier, Ayre won silver at the Qingdao Grand Prix to secure his first IJF World Tour medal, and arrives in Lausanne carrying excellent form into the new Olympic qualification cycle.
Michael Fryer (Rush Judo) will compete at -66kg, also making his first appearance since winning bronze on his Commonwealth Games debut. Earlier this year, Fryer impressed with a seventh-place finish at the Paris Grand Slam and will be looking to build on that progress in Switzerland.
Joining him in the -66kg category is Charlie Young (Ryecroft JC), who heads into his third competition of the month after recording seventh-place finishes at both the Lima Grand Prix and Lima Panamerican Open. He will be aiming to turn those performances into a deeper run this weekend.
Ethan Nairne (Bradley Stoke JC) competes in the -73kg division as he continues his remarkable breakthrough year. The new Commonwealth Games champion has also claimed gold at the Grand Prix Upper Austria for his first IJF World Tour medal, silver at the Sofia European Open and seventh place on his Senior European Championships debut. Lausanne presents another opportunity to add another strong IJF World Tour result to an already outstanding 2026 campaign.
Ben Levy (Budokwai) joins Nairne at -73kg after also enjoying the best season of his career so far. Levy took silver on his Commonwealth Games debut and won bronze at the Paris Grand Slam to earn his first IJF World Tour medal, giving Great Britain a strong pairing in the weight category.
Lachlan Moorhead (Penistone JC) will contest the -90kg category as he continues his transition after moving up from -81kg. Lausanne will be his fourth international appearance in the new weight class as he continues to gain experience in the division.
Max Gregory (Drake JC) lines up in the -100kg category fresh from winning silver at the Commonwealth Games. Earlier this year, Gregory also recorded a seventh-place finish at the Dushanbe Grand Slam and will be hoping to convert that consistency into another strong result.
Tatum Keen (Bradley Stoke JC) returns in the -52kg category after claiming bronze in Glasgow. Keen has enjoyed an outstanding season, finishing fifth at the Grand Prix Upper Austria before bouncing back two weeks later with silver at the Tbilisi Grand Slam to earn her first IJF World Tour medal. She heads to Lausanne with growing experience of competing in the latter stages of World Tour events.
Acelya Toprak (Camberley JC) competes at -57kg just two weeks after finishing fifth at the Lima Grand Prix. Toprak has consistently challenged for medals throughout 2026, winning Commonwealth Games gold and adding fifth-place finishes at both the Senior European Championships and the Tbilisi Grand Slam.
Emma Reid (Redbridge JC) arrives in Switzerland in outstanding form in the -78kg division. Reid secured a second consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal last month, having already claimed silver at the Senior European Championships, fifth at the Tbilisi Grand Slam and fifth at the Qingdao Grand Prix in her previous three World Tour appearances.
