15 British Cadets Set for Riga Cadet European Cup

A squad of 15 British judoka will compete at the 2026 Riga Cadet European Cup in Latvia this weekend, featuring both debutants and experienced competitors looking to build on strong recent performances.

Four British judoka will compete in the -50kg category, with Louie Seguin (Tonbridge JC) returning for his third Cadet European Cup of 2026. Seguin will be looking to build on his seventh-place finish in Poreč earlier this year.

He will be joined by three athletes making their Cadet European Cup debuts. Glen Ferrier (Titan Judo), Ashwin Yoganathan (Samurai Olympic JC) and Cuthbert Walker (Tees Valley JC) will all be looking to gain valuable experience as they compete at this level for the first time.

The -55kg category will feature three British judoka. Reece Blackshaw (Penistone JC) heads into the competition following an impressive seventh-place finish at the Cadet European Championships earlier this year, and will be looking to build on that performance in Riga.

Harry Egleton (Bishops Stortford JK) returns to European Cup action after making his debut in late 2025, while Harry Walker (Tees Valley JC) will make his first appearance at a Cadet European Cup.

Michael Richardson (Blyth Juno Michi) will be the sole British representative in the -60kg category, competing at his third Cadet European Cup of the year.

In the -66kg division, Yurii Loktionov (Tonbridge JC) will compete at his second European Cup of 2026, alongside clubmate Lukian Pavuk (Tonbridge JC), who will make his debut at the event.

Alexey Pavluhin (Palavani) completes the British male contingent as the squad’s sole representative in the -73kg category, having already competed at one European Cup this year.

In the women’s categories, Katrina Davis (Sakura JC) will compete in the -44kg division. Davis has had a strong year on the European Cup circuit, finishing fifth in Poreč and seventh in Rome. She will return to competition following her debut at the Cadet European Championships in June, where she gained valuable experience at the highest level of cadet competition.

Two British judoka will compete in the -52kg category. Maisie Broadley (Stewart JA) continues a busy year on the international circuit, making her seventh European event appearance of 2026. Broadley has already secured seventh place at the Rome Cadet European Cup and made her second appearance at the Cadet European Championships earlier this year.

She will be joined by Neve Dodds (Tees Valley JC), who will make her Cadet European Cup debut in Riga.

Completing the squad is Evie Mitchell (The Parks JC), who will compete in the -57kg category. Mitchell arrives in Latvia in strong form after claiming silver at the Poreč Cadet European Cup earlier this year. She also secured an impressive fifth-place finish on her debut at the Cadet European Championships, narrowly missing out on a medal.

Good luck to all 15 British judoka competing in Riga this weekend!
