Kodokan Nage No Kata – 22 Feb 26 – Rochdale

February 22, 2026

The aim of this course is to introduce players to Nage-No-Kata (Forms of Throwing). This kata consists of five sets:

  • Te-Waza (Hand Techniques)
  • Koshi-Waza (Hip Techniques)
  • Ashi-Waza (Foot & Leg Techniques)
  • Ma-Sutemi-Waza (Rear Sacrifice Techniques)
  • Yoko-Sutemi-Waza (Side Sacrifice Techniques)

Each set contains three techniques, demonstrating the principles of balance, timing, movement, and efficient use of force. The course provides an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of Nage-No-Kata, both as a foundation for technical development and as a method of kata practice and teaching.

This is a British Judo Association Licensed Coach Education Course and is worth one credit.

The course is limited to 20 places due to the size of the tatami.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Current FULL BJA membership
  • Minimum grade of 3rd Kyu (Green Belt)

Participants are ideally encouraged to attend with a partner to practise with; however, we will endeavour to pair up individuals where required.
