May 17, 2026

Go-No-Sen Kata – Course Content

The aim of this course is to introduce players to Go-No-Sen Kata (Forms of Counter-Attack). This kata focuses on the principle of responding to an opponent’s attack with precise timing, movement, and effective counter-techniques.

Go-No-Sen Kata consists of five techniques, each demonstrating the application of defensive movement, anticipation, and the use of an opponent’s momentum. The course provides an excellent opportunity to develop understanding of counter-attacking principles, tactical awareness, and their relevance to both randori and self-defence.

This is a British Judo Association Licensed Coach Education Course and is worth one credit.

The course is limited to 20 places due to the size of the tatami.

Eligibility requirements:

·         Current FULL BJA membership

·         Minimum grade of 3rd Kyu (Green Belt)

Participants are ideally encouraged to attend with a partner to practise with; however, we will endeavour to pair up individuals where required.
