Karen Roberts Castle and Fiona Chan Set for Sarajevo World Kata Championships 2026

The 2026 Sarajevo World Judo Championships Kata take place this weekend, with Great Britain represented by two judoka in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Karen Roberts Castle and Fiona Chan will compete in the Itsutsu-no-Kata category, returning to the World Kata Championships for the second consecutive year after making their debut at the event in 2025.

The pair head to Sarajevo in strong form following the British Kata Championships earlier this month, where they claimed gold in the Itsutsu-no-Kata category.

The World Championships will be their third international kata competition together as they continue to develop their partnership and experience in a discipline they only began competing in last year.

Both bring a wealth of experience from other areas of judo. Chan is a regular competitor on the European and World Veteran circuits, while Roberts Castle is a former Olympian and World Championship medallist.

It is fantastic to see both judoka continuing to expand their judo journeys through kata, and we wish them the very best of luck in Sarajevo this weekend!
