26 British Judoka to Compete at 2026 Adapted European Championships and Get Together Tournament
November 06, 2026
This weekend, 21 British Adaptive judoka will take to the mats in Belgrade, Serbia, to compete at the 2026 Open European Adapted Judo Championships, while a further five British judoka will represent Great Britain at the accompanying Get Together Tournament!
Great Britain will have a strong contingent across the weight categories, with returning medallists, defending champions and several athletes making their European Championships debuts.
In the -66kg category, five judoka will represent Great Britain. Ethan Watkin (L1/Kin Ryu JC) and Ross McInnes (L1/Southside Judo) will both make their debuts at the event, while Braydon Robus (L1/Keisen JC) returns after claiming bronze in 2025.
They will be joined by Alex McKinlay (L1/Club 62), who recently finished fifth at the Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam, and Thomas Mawdsley (L1/The Mill JC), who will be looking to build on the silver medal he secured at last year’s championships.
The -73kg category will also feature a strong British presence, with four judoka set to compete. Rowan Kinsella (L1/Bradley Stoke JC) returns as defending European Champion, alongside Stanley Walker (L1/Rush Judo), who claimed silver at the 2025 championships and recently added another silver at the Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam.
Ilyas Khan (L1/Miramar JC), who won silver in the -66kg category at last year’s championships, will step up to -73kg following his gold-medal success at the Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam earlier this year. Sean Allan (L2/Castle Douglas JC) completes the quartet, having finished fourth in 2025. He arrives in strong form after winning gold at the Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam and silver at the Gdansk Get Together Tournament.
Four British judoka will compete in the -81kg category, including defending 2025 European Champion Christopher Murphy (L1). He will be joined by Idris Khan (L1/Miramar JC), last year’s silver medallist and a gold medallist at this year’s Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam.
Jaidan Rouse-Easy (L1/Ray Stevens Academy), who finished fourth at the Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam, will also be in action, alongside Dominic Beesley (L1/Oxford Brookes Judo), who makes his debut at the championships. Beesley heads to Serbia having enjoyed an impressive 2026, winning gold at the Kortrijk Get Together Tournament and bronze at the Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam.
In the -90kg category, Solomon Rice (L1/Pro Judo) and Jaden Stewart (L2/Kanokwai) will both make their European Championships debuts. Rice arrives following a silver-medal finish at this year’s Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam, while Stewart narrowly missed out on a medal with fourth place at the same event.
Rounding off the men’s team, Michael Lomas (L1/Miramar JC) and George Light (L2/Solihull JA) will compete in the +90kg category. Both athletes return to the championships as previous medallists, with Lomas having claimed bronze in 2025 and Light taking silver. Light also arrives in strong form after winning gold at this year’s Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam.
In the women’s competition, Rebecca Lamb (L1/Clyde JC) and Siobhan Lloyd (L1/L2/United Judo) will both represent Great Britain in the -52kg category. Lamb returns as defending European Champion and a gold medallist at the 2026 Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam, while Lloyd will be looking to build on the silver medal she secured at last year’s championships after also claiming gold in Lausanne this year.
Nikki McDermott (L2/Kodokwai JC) will be Great Britain’s sole representative in the -57kg category. She heads into the championships in good form following her silver-medal finish at the Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam.
Completing the women’s team, Skye Westwood (L2/Rush Judo) will be Great Britain’s sole representative in the -63kg category. The 2025 European Champion has enjoyed an outstanding year so far, claiming gold medals at the Lausanne Adapted Grand Slam, Gdansk Get Together Tournament and Kortrijk Get Together Tournament.
Unfortunately, Max Karalus (Kin Ryu JC) has been withdrawn from the team due to concussion, while Saffiyah Khan (Miramar JC) has also withdrawn through injury. We wish both athletes all the very best with their recoveries!
Alongside the European Championships, a Get Together event will also take place in Belgrade, providing further opportunities for British Adaptive judoka to compete on the international stage.
Patrick Kimber (Chichester Ronin) and Frank Zawadska will represent Great Britain in the men’s categories, while Sophia Robus (Keisen JC), Georgina Grayson (Cherry JC) and Hanna Bancer (Leicester JA) will compete in the women’s categories.
Good luck to all of our GB Adaptive judoka competing in Belgrade this weekend!
