Three British Judoka Set for 2026 Lima Panamerican Open

Three British judoka will compete at the Lima Panamerican Open tomorrow, following their performances at the Lima Grand Prix over the weekend and taking advantage of the opportunity for additional competition while in Peru.

Charlie Young (Ryecroft JC) will step up to the -73kg category in Lima, just days after securing a seventh-place finish at the Lima Grand Prix at -66kg. Young produced his best result of the year in Lima, progressing from the round of 32 through to the quarter-final before eventually bowing out in the repechage. He will look to build on that performance as he returns to action tomorrow.

Rory Tyrrell (Camberley JC) will compete in the -81kg category, also returning to competition following his appearance at the Lima Grand Prix. The event marked just Tyrrell’s second World Tour appearance, where he gained valuable experience across his two contests. He will look to put that experience into practice and progress further at the Panamerican Open.

Wesley Greenidge (Enfield JC) will compete in the +100kg division, looking to bounce back from a challenging day at the Lima Grand Prix. Greenidge faced a tough opening-round draw against the eventual bronze medallist, bowing out in the round of 16. He will now look to go further in the competition and finish his time in Peru on a high.

Good luck to the team!
