Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Judo: Day 2 Preview

Day 2 of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games is here, with another exciting day of judo ahead as the home nations judoka look to build on the success of yesterday’s competitors and add more medals to their respective teams.
Ethan Nairne (England) will compete in the -73kg category on his Commonwealth Games debut, beginning in the Round of 16 where he will face Daniel Pacitti (Scotland), who is also making his Commonwealth Games debut.
Ben Levy (England) will also make his Commonwealth Games debut in the -73kg category, taking on Brave Chipokosa (Malawi) in the Round of 16.
Josh Green (Northern Ireland) returns for his second Commonwealth Games in the -73kg category. After finishing fifth at Birmingham 2022, he will begin his campaign in the Round of 16 against Mattheo Lawson (Tonga).
Ben Moore (Wales) receives a bye into the Round of 16 in the -73kg category on his Commonwealth Games debut. He will face either John Kapungwe (Zambia) or Chamara Repiyallage (Sri Lanka) in his opening contest.
Ollie Short (Scotland) rounds off the home nations representation in the -73kg category as he makes his Commonwealth Games debut against Hamray Temaki (Nauru) in the Round of 16.
Jamal Petgrave (England) returns as the reigning Commonwealth Games champion in the -90kg category. Beginning in the Round of 16, he will face Bradley Morris-McKenzie (Gibraltar) as he looks to defend the title he won at Birmingham 2022.
Scott Cusack (Scotland) follows in the footsteps of his Commonwealth Games medallist parents as he makes his Games debut in the -90kg category. He will face Thomas-Laszlo Breytenbach (South Africa) in the Round of 16 as he looks to continue his family’s proud Commonwealth Games legacy.
Sophie Wood (Scotland) makes her Commonwealth Games debut in the -63kg category, taking on Laurence Biron (Canada) in the Round of 16.
Sunny Doig (Scotland) also begins her first Commonwealth Games campaign in the -63kg division, facing Saya Middleton (Australia) in the Round of 16.
Jemima Yeats-Brown (England) returns for her third Commonwealth Games, having made her debut at Glasgow 2014. A two-time Commonwealth bronze medallist, she begins her -70kg campaign against Mary Njeri (Kenya) in the Round of 16 as she looks to reach the podium once again.
Kelly Petersen-Pollard (England) receives a bye into the quarter-finals in the -70kg category. Competing at her second Commonwealth Games after winning bronze at Birmingham 2022, she will face either Jemima Yeats-Brown (England) or Mary Njeri (Kenya) in her opening contest.
Rachael Hawkes (Northern Ireland) returns for her second Commonwealth Games after finishing fifth at Birmingham 2022. She begins her -70kg campaign in the quarter-finals against Moira de Villiers (New Zealand), looking to go even further this time around.
Holly Devall (Wales) completes the home nations line-up on Day 2, making her Commonwealth Games debut in the -70kg category. She will face Noemie Evenor (Mauritius) in the Round of 16.
Adam Paul Stevens (Gibraltar) has been given a tough opening contest as he takes on Samoa’s Peniamina Percival in the -81kg competition.
