Emma Reid Nominated for Athlete of the Month

Emma Reid has been nominated for the British Elite Athletes’ Association’s (BEAA) Athlete of the Month award for April following an outstanding performance on the international stage.

The British judoka delivered a superb display at the 2026 European Championships, securing a silver medal in the -78kg category. The result adds to an already impressive career that includes a Commonwealth Games gold medal and a World Championship podium finish.

This latest achievement highlights Reid’s continued consistency at the highest level of the sport, as she continues to establish herself among Europe’s elite competitors.

The Athlete of the Month award is voted for by current and former elite British athletes, making the nomination a significant recognition of Reid’s performances and reputation within the sporting community.

She joins a shortlist alongside Sarah Davies (weightlifting), Ben Lane and Sean Vendy (badminton), and Becky Moody (equestrian). The winner will be announced following a vote by BEAA members, who represent over 40 sports across the UK.

From everyone at British Judo, congratulations to Emma on this well-deserved nomination—and best of luck in the voting!
