Whilst the campaign runs all year round, there is a focus awareness week during the first week of October to highlight the campaign and launch new resources and guidance for parents and carers.
Parents and carers play a pivotal role in encouraging and supporting their child’s participation, success and fun when playing sport. If you’re a parent, you can make a difference with the campaign by helping to spread the word about keeping children safe in sport and encourage other fellow parents to get involved.
Here’s how parents can help support this year’s campaign.
Positive parental involvement in sport.
In a video provided by the NSPCC and the CPSU we hear from parents and children about their sporting lives and involvement and what this means for them. The video highlights the impact of both positive and negative parental involvement and side-line behaviour in sport.
“British Judo Association are proud to be supporting the Annual Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport campaign and working in partnership with our clubs and parents to ensure it’s a fun & safe environment for their children”
Andy Bowly, Head of Inclusion, Safeguarding and Wellbeing.
