Strong showing for British pair at EJU Kata Championships
May 28, 2012
British Judo’s leading kata pairing of twins Helen and Kathryn Cartwright were just pipped at the post for a bronze medal by only two points at the EJU Kata Championships held in Koper, Slovenia last weekend.
The duo put on a very polished performance coming fourth in the Ju no Kata section which boasted an entry of sixteen couples this being the largest entry of all the sections of the competition.
Eddie Awford, BJA National Kata Team Manager, said: “This was an superbly organised competition with a superb venue and facilities.”
There was an entry of over 200 players representing sixteen different European countries and once again the quality of the technical performances were very high indeed. Also an important fact was that part of the BJA Kata Team were Dennis Penfold a EJU/IJF Kata Judge and Sean Nuttall a recently qualified EJU Kata Judge.
