Statement: Coaching at the British Championships
December 12, 2024
At last weekend’s Pre-Cadet and Cadet British Championships at the University of Warwick, there was an incident involving a Coach at matside behaving in a manner which is not acceptable at a judo event.
British Judo have taken appropriate action and those involved have been reminded of their responsibilities in line with our Code of Conduct, with a suitable sanction awarded for this weekend’s Junior and Senior competition.
British Judo has a zero-tolerance approach to incidents such as this, and we would like to remind all Coaches, fighters, spectators, volunteers and the wider judo community of the values of judo. We do not feel that these were demonstrated during this particular incident.
We would encourage you to report any further unacceptable behaviour at events or in your club using our MyVoice reporting tool by clicking here.
