If you have any concerns about a British Judo member, please report your concern your MyVoice.
MyVoice can be used by BJA members and other persons who have concerns regarding Safeguarding within BJA clubs and clubs in the three Home-Nations (Welsh Judo Association, Judo Scotland and Northern Ireland Judo Association).
The BJA Safeguarding Team will pass on any concerns to the relevant Home-Nation Safeguarding Teams where necessary.

If your concern is in relation to a child, you can contact your local authority child safeguarding team or you can email help@NSPCC.org.uk at any time. It’s free and you don’t have to say who you are. If you think a child is in immediate danger, please call the police on 999 straight away.
If your concern is in relation to an adult, you can contact your local authority adult safeguarding team. If you think the adult is in immediate danger, please call the police on 999 straight away.

BJA Safeguarding Out of Hours (5.00pm-9.00am, and weekends)
The Safeguarding Team are here to support clubs, members, and staff with safeguarding matters
TELEPHONE: 0121 728 6920 (and select the Safeguarding option)
OPENING HOURS: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
As a team, we will have a rota re one of mobile phones being on after 5pm and at weekends.
Self Referral:
The BJA promotes safeguarding of all its members as a priority
In line with Three Steps Safe – British Judo Association we strive towards ensuring the safest and suitable people operate within our sport
We have clear validation requirements for coaches including safe recruitment checks for coaches and those in positions of trust
Can we remind coaches and members outlining to make a self-referral to safeguarding@britishjudo.org.uk if for example they are subject to:
Police arrest, investigation or interview (even if charges were not made)
- Being charged with a criminal offence
- Involvement in court proceedings, conviction or caution/final warning
- Investigation by children and/or adult services or a LADO (or nation equivalent)
We encourage in cases (for coaches and CWOs) where you have been subject to a police investigation to complete a Self-Declaration using the form in….(Chris- this can in the DBS page on the website & can you provide the link to Ben)
Failure in self reporting could result in consideration of sanctions regarding your membership and coaching status.
If a child or adult is in immediate danger, please call the police on 999 and forward the report made (inc police force reported to & crime reference number is given to safeguarding@britishjudo.org.uk (a member of the BJA safeguarding team will respond as soon as possible)
