Rainhill Rockets raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support with sponsored throw
June 01, 2015
Last month children from Rainhill Rockets Judo Club in Merseyside took part in a sponsored throw event to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.
The children had to throw each other as many times as possible in a minute with prizes being awarded for most throws and the most money raised.
The club managed to raise £735 on the night. However, the club’s committee agreed to donate an additional £65 to take the full amount raised to £800. The local ambassador for MacMillan came along to the event and was presented with the cheque, which was made by one of the parents.
“The children did brilliantly and gave 100%”, said Kerry Tansey, who runs the club with husband Paul.
“The parents all stayed and cheered them on and were very impressed with how much effort they put in to achieve the grand total”.
Rainhill Rockets Judo Club meet on Thursday evenings at Rainhill Scout Hut, Deepdale Drive (Jones Estate), Rainhill L35 4NW. For more information contact 07967 778121.
