Power of Recognition – John Cottis awarded Honorary Life Membership

Continuing with today’s National Inclusion Week theme of the power of recognition and empowering your colleagues, John Cottis 6th Dan was recently presented with his Honorary Life Membership Award for the contribution he has made to the sport of judo over the last 50 years.

The award was presented at the recent Northern Home Counties Open by Board Director, long-time friend and Chairman of NHC, Dave Clark. John, who is one of Great Britain’s most successful coaches, has been Essex County Coach, NHC Coach and Team Manager and GB Cadet, Junior and Senior Support Coach. During his very successful coaching career Johns club has placed/gained:

  • Over 130 players on Cadet, Junior and Senior squads
  • 16 Commonwealth Games/Championship medals
  • 46, Cadet, Junior and Senior European Medals
  • 3rd place at Senior European Championships in Tampere – 2006
  • 2nd place at Senior World Championships Rio de Janeiro – 2007
  • 3 players selected for Olympic Games

I am sure that all associated with British Judo would like to congratulate John on receiving such a prestigious award.
