Olympian Ashley McKenzie runs Sport Relief Mile

Olympian Ashley McKenzie returned to the Olympic Park to start one of the waves of races for the Sports Relief mile.

It was a special moment for Ashley to be back on the ground where London 2012 took place and run in the shadow of the Olympic stadium where he fought.

During the day, the Celebrity Big Brother contestant ran the mile with a host of celebrities including tv presenter and model Rylan Clark, dance expert Louie Spence and Hollyoaks actress Jorgie Porter.

Ashley then spent the afternoon mixing with the likes of boxer David Haye, England Rugby player James Haskell, tv presenter Jeff Brazier and Olympic champion in cycling Victoria Pendleton.

He said that he felt honoured to take part in the event with thousands of people who all united in raising money for charitable causes.

Ashley proudly hung up his medal alongside his judo ones, that include the recent gold he gained from Uruguay last Monday.

This Saturday Ashley will step onto the tatami in Samsun, Turkey for the European Judo Union (EJU) Grand Prix.

Olympic silver medallist Gemma Gibbons will be in action on Sunday.
