New National Competitions Commission seeks Volunteers

The BJA Board of Directors has formed a new National Competitions Commission (NCC) with Andrew Haffner as chair.

Andrew is looking for volunteers to help him deliver on the Commissions key objectives.

Immediate targets for the NCC include increasing the BJA’s pool of event volunteers as well as finalising and implement a tournament handbook for improved British events and improving events at all levels.

It is hoped that the new NCC would be made up of the very best event organisers in Great Britain. This group would work with clubs, areas, volunteers and BJA staff to help promote a national network of lower level events and provide players of all levels with development and recreational events.

Together they will act as an advisory body to help develop and improve events, support the delivery of quality events and deal with any concerns that may arise.

NCC members must have a proven track record as event organisers and hold a Competition Controller Award. They should also be aware of the role events play in developing players and be willing to help developing a structure to develop players either as recreational or aspiring elite performers.

Interested parties should email terri.elliott@britishjudo.org.uk, giving their name, BJA membership number, a short history of activity and reasons why they feel enthusiastic about this project. Applications should be accompanied by the subject title: NCC application. The deadline for applications is Monday 15 July.
