National Inclusion Open Training Day returns to Centre of Excellence

The National Inclusion Open Training Day is back for 2017 and the British Judo Centre of Excellence will play host once again on Saturday 11 February.

The day itself is open to both Junior and Senior judo players including VI judoka, players with disabilities and GB SN Squad players. You don’t have to be an experienced judoka to attend as it’s open to novices and under-8s as well.

Last year judoka were joined on the mat by former World Champion and BJA Board member Loretta Cusack Doyle and double Paralympic medallist Ian Rose as well as current Junior GB judoka Lele Nairne and Neil MacDonald.

This year BJA Disability Lead Kerry Tansey will be coaching alongside Jo Imrie, GB SN Coach, Ian Johns, Paralympic Head Coach, and other GB coaches.

Senior Special Needs referee Ron Cleere will be on hand to cover refereeing while Jean Cleere and Andrew Scott, both senior championship controllers, will be giving advice on competition levels and processes.

Chair of the Inclusion Commission Sara Hayes will also be on hand giving advice on the Commission. There will also be a conditioning session led by GB Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach Allan MacDonald.

There will be two mat areas to accommodate different levels of Visually Impaired players and all disabilities. Wheelchair players with their care workers or coaches will enjoy this training day as we are open to all levels of disabilities for junior and senior people wishing to have a fun day’s training with top coaches involved in British inclusion.

This will be the third year in a row that the Centre of Excellence will have hosted the event and it’s set to be another great day.
