Monthly National Randori Introduced at the British Judo National Training Centre

British Judo is introducing Monthly National Randori Sessions at the National Training Centre in Walsall, beginning in February.

These new sessions are designed to strengthen national training opportunities, bringing together eligible athletes from across the country for high-quality randori in a National Training Centre environment.

The first National Randori session of the year will take place on Wednesday 4 February and will feature a practical update on the latest IJF rule changes, delivered by Neil Adams MBE. The update, aimed at both coaches and fighters, will begin at 6:00pm in the dojo, followed by randori at 7:30pm.

One Wednesday each month will be designated as a National Randori session, with randori beginning at 7:30pm. These sessions are open to judoka aged 16 and over who hold 1st kyu (brown belt) or above. There is no sign-up required, and athletes can simply turn up on the day.

The regular Wednesday evening NTC randori sessions will continue as normal at 7:30pm. These sessions are open to anyone and do not have the same age or grade requirements as the Monthly National Randori.

All National Randori sessions will be randori-only and free of charge, with no mat fee. Athletes must hold a valid, in-date British Judo licence to take part.

Sessions will be led by Winston Gordon, James Austen and Fitz Davies, with coaches welcome to attend and support.
