Junior Squad Set for European Championships

GB Judo’s future stars will be taking to the mat this week as they compete in the Junior European Championships in Tallinn, Estonia.
2023 bronze medallist Luke Davies will make the step up to -81kg as he begins his transition from the -73kg in Tallinn. Luke has taken gold and silver medals at the Birmingham and Kaunas Junior European Cups respectively this year. He will join Eryk Neumann in what promises to be an exciting category!
Irakli Goginashvili who makes his Junior European Championship debut in the -73kg competition having stepped up from the Cadet ranks in 2024. Goginashvili took silver behind Davies at the Birmingham Junior European Cup this year. The Budokwai’s Ben Levy will compete alongside Goginashvili and heads into the competition having won three bronze medals on the tour this year.
Lewis Fryer and Daniel Ede also make their second appearances at the Junior European Championships in the -66kg, -81kg and +100kg categories respectively.
Charlie Ayre makes his Junior European Championship debut in the -60kg category following a bronze medal winning performance at the Kaunas Junior European Cup in May.
With 5 medals this year, Summer Shaw is in fine form. The Camberley Judo Club judoka has taken gold at her last two events in Prague and Berlin.
Charlotte Jenman has seamlessly transitioned up to the -57kg category. The former European Cadet Championship bronze medallist has won silver and bronze medals at the Kaunas and Birmingham Junior European Cups respectively.
Jenman will be joined in the -57kg category by Chloe Link. Link, who stepped up from the Cadet ranks this year, took bronze at the Kaunas Junior European Cup before a 5th place finish in Birmingham.
Holly Devall has had her best season, placing in all of her competitions. The 19-year-old claimed gold at the Kaunas Junior European Cup before taking bronze in Birmingham.
Anya Hassan will make her second appearance at the Junior European Championships. The -78kg judoka took silver at the Kaunas Junior European Cup earlier this year.
GB Judo will also contest the Team Event on the final day. Cameron Hickey will compete in the team event in the -90kg category.
