Independent Review in relation to the withdrawal of the British Judo Association’s licence to stage the European Judo Championships 2015 underway

The British Judo Association and UK Sport are pleased to announce that Mark Gay of Hamlins LLP, one of the country’s leading sports lawyers, has accepted the role of Independent Reviewer in relation to the withdrawal of the British Judo Association’s licence to stage the European Judo Championships 2015.

This process has taken longer than anticipated, but we are pleased to report that Mark has now commenced work.  The review was originally intended to be concluded in time for the June Board meetings of the British Judo Association and UK Sport respectively, but on reflection the project board felt that this timeline was too challenging and could potentially compromise the quality and rigour of the report. The report is, however, to be finalised in time for the next meeting in September.  The terms of reference are can be downloaded here

Mark is a Partner and Head of the Sports Group at Hamlins.   Clients he has worked for include professional leagues, National and International Federations, football clubs and Formula 1 teams.
