In Loving Memory of Oscar Mason
October 05, 2026
Our hearts go out to Joe, Nicole and all of Oscar’s family at this unimaginably painful time, and we are holding you all close. It is with broken hearts that all of us at Worcester Judo Club share the loss of our dear friend and student, Oscar Mason.
Oscar was a lovable rogue. He always had that cheeky grin on his face and looked like butter wouldn’t melt, though we all knew there was usually a little mischief hiding behind it. That smile could light up the whole dojo, and beneath it was a heart of gold. Oscar was kind and loyal, and he loved his brothers fiercely.
Oscar first stepped onto our mats over two years ago, and none of us knew how big a place he would come to hold in our hearts. He became family, and every session was brighter for having him there. He gave everything he had in competition and brought home gold, and we were so proud of him, and we always will be.
Worcester Judo Club is run by volunteers, for the love of the sport and for the people in it. Our members are what make it special, and Oscar was a big part of that. We have all been devastated by his loss.
Joe and his boys will always be part of our family. Oscar’s brothers continue to train with us, and we will be beside them every step of their judo journey, just as Oscar would have wanted. We will support the whole family in any way we can, today and in the months and years ahead.
Oscar’s funeral will be held on Saturday 10th October at Stourport Crematorium. Out of respect for Oscar, and so that our coaches and members can attend and say their goodbyes, the club will be closed.
Rest easy, Oscar. Thank you for the laughter, the cheeky grins and the memories you leave behind. You will forever be part of Worcester Judo Club.
