IJF Coach Licence Requirement for EJU Events

British Judo would like to remind all coaches of an important requirement relating to European competition eligibility moving forwards.

As confirmed at the European Judo Union (EJU) Congresses held in 2024 (Budapest) and 2025 (Las Palmas), the following regulation came into force from 1 January 2026 for all EJU events.

To be accredited as a coach at EJU World Ranking List (WRL) events, including European Opens and the Senior European Championships, coaches must hold one of the following International Judo Federation (IJF) recognised qualifications: IJF Level 1 Instructor, IJF Undergraduate Certificate Judo Instructor (UCJI), or IJF Master Coach certification.

There will be no exceptions on this ruling moving forwards. Any coach entered for an EJU WRL event without one of the required licences will be removed from accreditation.

We will shortly be announcing the next IJF Undergraduate Certificate Judo Instructor (UCJI) hosted in Great Britain this year.
