UPDATE: IJF Coach Licence Requirement for EJU Events

**UPDATE TO PREVIOUS COMMUNICATION**

Previously, we informed you that all coaches that to be accredited as a coach at EJU World Ranking List (WRL) events, including European Opens and the Senior European Championships, coaches must hold one of the following International Judo Federation (IJF) recognised qualifications: IJF Level 1 Instructor, IJF Undergraduate Certificate Judo Instructor (UCJI), or IJF Master Coach certification.

The European Judo Union have since provided an update that states:

The requirement to hold an IJF Coach Licence shall remain mandatory for the following EJU events from January 2026:

  • European Championships (Cadets, Juniors, U23, Seniors – Individual and Mixed Team)
  • EJU Champions League

For European Open events, no IJF Coach Licence shall be required as long as such a requirement is not introduced as a general, worldwide regulation applicable to all continents.
