Great Britain Top the Medal Table at the EJU Open European Adapted Judo Championships

GB’s Adaptive Judo squad delivered a phenomenal performance at the EJU Open European Adapted Judo Championships, topping the medal table with an incredible 16 medals — including six golds, seven silvers, and three bronzes.

A team of 23 British judoka travelled to Conegliano, Italy, ready to face Europe’s finest competitors. Their efforts paid off in spectacular fashion, with multiple standout performances across both men’s and women’s divisions.

Among the standout performances were the six athletes crowned European Champions: Campbell Brooks (M1 -73kg), Christopher Murphy (M1 -81kg), Rowan Kinsella (M2 -73kg), Rebecca Lamb (W1 -52kg), Saffiyah Khan (W1 -63kg), and Skye Westwood (W2 -63kg). Each of them showed outstanding technical ability and strength to claim gold in their respective categories.

Silver medals went to Thomas Mawdsley (M1 -66kg), Stanley Walker (M1 -73kg), Idris Khan (M1 -81kg), Stuart Jackman (M1 +90kg), Ilyas Khan (M2 -66kg), George Light (M2 +90kg) and Siobhan Lloyd (W1 -52kg).

Joshua Hughes (M1 -81kg), Michael Lomas (M1 +90kg) and Braydon Robus (M2 -66kg) each secured bronze, while Sean Allan finished in fourth place in the L2 -73kg division.

Beyond the medal count, the event was a powerful celebration of inclusion and sporting excellence. The European Adaptive Judo Championships bring together athletes of all abilities, promoting the values that lie at the heart of judo. The team’s success is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of every athlete, coach, and support staff member involved in the programme.

With their outstanding medal haul and top position in the medal rankings, Great Britain has once again proven itself as a leader in Adaptive Judo.
