British Judo delivers a bespoke Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme, designed specifically for judo athletes.
The course combines high‑level judo development with an academic curriculum that sits alongside a student’s main study programme. Funded by Sport England, DiSE provides a recognised pathway for talented young athletes. More information about the programme can be found on the DiSE website.
The DiSE Judo programme operates from five locations across England and offers athletes the chance to increase their weekly training volume within a structured, supportive environment. As a vocational qualification, DiSE provides 64 UCAS points, making it a valuable route for those aiming to progress to university. It also equips students with skills and knowledge relevant to a wide range of roles within the sport and wider industry. Importantly, DiSE is designed to complement and enhance an athlete’s existing club and squad training.
Places on the programme are limited, and priority is given to athletes who are part of the England Talent Programme – England Performance Potential Squad (EPP) and England Development Squad (EDS) – or the Paralympic Potential Programme.
