Former USA judo ace enjoys MMA win at weekend
July 10, 2014
American MMA fighter and former judoka Ronda Rousey took down Alexis Davis in 16 seconds at the UFC 175 competiton at the weekend but suffered a broken thumb, just like Great Britain’s Olympic silver medallist Gemma Gibbons did at London 2012.
The former USA judo now MMA ace may take a break from the sport to have routine arthroscopic knee surgery on her knee next Tuesday and correct problems she has had for some time.
Before Rousey’s rise to MMA stardom she was a judo Olympic bronze medalist and she uses her judo training to great effect in MMA demonstrating that judo moves can work in MMA in the right way.
