Five-strong British team learn Qingdao GP draw

A five-strong British team will compete at the Qingdao Grand Prix in China this weekend. 

Number one seed Ashley McKenzie has a first round bye and will open his -60kg account against Mongolian Kherlen Ganbold.

Colin Oates, who finished in seventh-place at London 2012, has a first round bye in the -66kg category and will face China’s Jiadi Li.

Tom Davis, a four-time World Cup medallist this year, has a first round bye in the -81kg category and will meet China’s Haiyuan Gao

Samoa World Cup gold medallist Gemma Howell has a first round bye and starts her -63kg campaign against Brazil’s Rafaela Silva.

Welsh judoka Natalie Powell, who took silver at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, has a first and second round bye and will start her tournament in the quarter-finals against either China’s Li Han or Chinese Tapei’s Szu-Chu Wang.
