First round exit for Reid at U23 Europeans

Emma Reid suffered a first round exit at the 2017 U23 European Championships in Montenegro on Sunday 12 November.

The Melbourn Judo Club judoka was making her debut at this level and took on former Junior European Championships bronze medallist Giorgia Stangherlin (ITA) in the first round.

The Italian looked dangerous from the start and eventually the pressure told as she threw Reid for waza-ari.

Stangherlin transitioned into osaekomi with Reid unable to get out of it as the Italian moved into the round of 16.
