

BJA Officials & Referees Annual Safeguarding & Welfare Training 2025

Introduction:
On behalf of BJA Safeguarding Team, we are inviting you to the first annual safeguarding training (we will be facilitating annually).
It is a great opportunity to reflect on your learning and Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
We are not offering this as a revalidation event for coaches.
Facilitators:
Marina Dain: Safeguarding Manager
Andrew Bowly: Head of Inclusion, Safeguarding & Wellbeing
Aim: To promote best practice for Safeguarding with Children & Young People and Adults within the BJA
Learning Outcomes:
- To understand the policies, procedures and legislation which underpin our role
- To increase skills and confidence when engaging with safeguarding issues and in recognising the indicators of abuse
- To promote best practice when contributing to ‘recognising, responding, referring & recording’ safeguarding concerns
- Understanding the impact of abuse and trauma on children
- To gain up to date knowledge on current issues of risk that impact on Children & Young People
- To raise awareness and familiarisation of BJA and local procedures relating to referrals & reporting
- To reflect on best practice regarding safer recruitment (DBS)
