British Judoka Set for Prague and Johannesburg Action
June 26, 2026

Two small squads of British judoka will be in action this weekend at the Prague European Open and Johannesburg African Open, as they look to continue their progress on the international circuit.
Prague European Open
Harry Le Mare (Camberley JC) will compete in the -73kg category, making his fifth European Open appearance of 2026. Having gained valuable experience throughout the year, Le Mare will be aiming to secure his best result to date and progress into the latter stages of the competition.
Joining him in the -73kg division is clubmate Cameron Charles (Camberley JC). Charles last competed at the Sarajevo Senior European Cup, where he narrowly missed out on a medal with a fifth-place finish. Having already claimed bronze at the Casablanca African Open earlier this year, he will be looking to return to the podium this weekend.
Eryk Neumann (Hardy Spicer 83) will contest the -81kg category in what will be his fourth European Open appearance of the year. Neumann will be hoping to build on the success he enjoyed on the Junior European Cup circuit in 2025 and translate that form into the senior ranks.
Fresh from being selected to represent Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Summer Shaw (Camberley JC) will compete in the -48kg division. Shaw arrives in Prague on the back of a bronze medal-winning performance at the Tallinn European Open three weeks ago and will be aiming for another podium finish.
In the -52kg category, Caitlin Barber (Middlesbrough JC) heads into the event after consecutive fifth-place finishes at the La Nucía/Benidorm European Cup and Tallinn European Open. With recent experience competing deep into tournaments, Barber will be determined to convert those performances into a medal-winning result.
Rounding off the British squad in Prague is Maria Moss (Subarashi JC) in the -70kg category. The event marks only Moss’ second appearance at the European Open level, following her debut in Conegliano in November 2025. She will be looking to gain further valuable international experience and challenge herself in a competitive field.
Johannesburg African Open
Adam Stevens (Goole JC) will be Great Britain’s sole representative in South Africa as he competes at the Johannesburg African Open.
Stevens continues a busy international campaign and will be aiming to build momentum ahead of several more competitions later in the year. With valuable experience already gained on the international stage in 2026, he will be targeting a strong performance and a positive result this weekend.
