British Judoka Set for Action at Taipei Asian Open and Paks Junior European Cup
July 10, 2026

This weekend, two British Judo squads will be in international action as they compete at the Taipei Asian Open and the Paks Junior European Cup.
Taipei Asian Open
Adam Stevens (Goole JC) will compete in the -73kg category as he continues a busy international campaign. The Taipei Asian Open marks his sixth international event of the year.
Joining him in the -73kg division is Cameron Charles (Camberley JC), who arrives in strong form after helping the South Senior Men team claim gold at the National Teams Championships. On the international stage this year, Charles has secured bronze at the Casablanca African Open and a fifth-place finish at the Sarajevo Senior European Cup.
Paks Junior European Cup
British Judo will be represented by a strong squad in Hungary, with three athletes contesting the -60kg category.
Wil Jones (Camberley JC) will make his third Junior European Cup appearance of the year, while Joseph Buchanan (Sportif) will look to build on his impressive fifth-place finish at the Kaunas Junior European Cup earlier in 2026. Laurence Hill (Dragons Academy) also heads to Paks in good form after finishing seventh at the Sarajevo Senior European Cup, before claiming gold at the Mandurah Junior Oceania Cup and fifth place at the Mandurah Oceania Open in May.
In the -73kg category, Eden Heffernan (Pro Judo) will aim to improve on his fifth-place finish at the Kaunas Junior European Cup earlier this year, while Oliver Ridout (Camberley JC) will make his second Junior European Cup appearance of 2026.
Peter Davies (Ealing JC) will be Great Britain’s sole representative in the -81kg division. Competing internationally for the ninth time this year, Davies has already enjoyed success in 2026, claiming bronze at the Casablanca Junior European Cup.
Kevin Gordon (Hibari Kan JC) will contest the -100kg category as he looks to make an impact at his third Junior European Cup of the year.
Kate Chisholm (Judo Sensei London) will compete in the -52kg division. Chisholm has enjoyed an impressive year to date, winning silver at the Poznań Junior European Cup, bronze at the Kaunas Junior European Cup, and finishing seventh at the Móstoles Junior European Cup.
Maddy Kissenisky (East Yorkshire JA) will compete at -57kg, aiming to build on the form she showed in 2025, when she claimed bronze at the Birmingham Junior European Cup alongside fifth-place finishes in both Kaunas and Portimão.
Good luck to all of our athletes competing in Taipei and Paks this weekend!
