British Judo Statement

Following independent disciplinary proceedings before a Sport Resolutions panel under the BJA’s SafeLandings policy, the independent panel determined that all allegations brought against Mr Andrew Haffner were not proven and that no safeguarding sanctions should be imposed.

While the BJA acted in accordance with its obligation to thoroughly investigate the complaints, it acknowledges the substantive recommendations made by the Sport Resolutions panel of the investigation. The BJA is committed to learning from those findings, including through a review of its safeguarding and disciplinary procedures.

Mr Haffner’s membership and coaching status have been restored, and he is entitled to resume his involvement in British Judo with his reputation completely unsullied.

The BJA recognises that this has been a difficult period for all involved and wishes to move forward constructively.
