British Judo is excited to announce a major change to the format of the British Championships, with all four age categories now coming together for one action-packed weekend of competition this December.
Set to take place across 13th–14th December at the David Ross Sports Village at the University of Nottingham. We’ve listened to feedback about previous venues and are focused on continuously improving the experience. By consolidating into a single weekend, we’re aiming to deliver the same high-quality event while being mindful of costs and accessibility for all involved.
For the first time, the British Championships will be hosted across seven mats under one roof, with the David Ross Sports Village capable of expanding to eight mats in the future as the event continues to grow.
Where possible, we are aiming to run preliminaries and final blocks within each age group’s session, allowing Cadets to finish before the Juniors start. Please note this schedule is subject to change based on final entry numbers, but represents the preferred running order.
The full outlines will be released in August 2025, the following plan represents the split of age groups across the weekend:
Saturday 13th December
Sunday 14th December
This new single-weekend approach aims to bring together the judo community in a high-energy, streamlined format that celebrates the sport at every level. British Judo looks forward to welcoming athletes, coaches, and supporters to Nottingham in December!
