British Cadet Squad Ready for 2026 Cadet European Championships

Six British cadets will compete this week at the Cadet European Championships 2026, taking place from Monday 29 June to Thursday 2 July in Gran Canaria.

In the women’s -44kg category, Katrina Davis (Sakura JC) will look to continue her consistent domestic form onto the European stage, having taken seventh at the Rome Cadet European Cup and fifth at the Poreč Cadet European Cup. The British Champion has delivered multiple podium finishes this year, including at the English, Scottish and Welsh Opens.

At -52kg, Maisie Broadley (Wirral JC) enters the competition as the current British Champion. She brings Cadet European Cup experience this year, where she has achieved a seventh-place finish in Rome, alongside international success including gold at the Scottish and Welsh Opens.

The -57kg category features two British athletes. Evie Mitchell (The Parks JC) arrives in strong form following a Cadet European Cup silver medal in Poreč earlier this year, alongside British and Scottish Open titles. She is joined by Maisie Shattock (Bacup JC), who secured bronze in Poreč, seventh in Rome, and gold at the Welsh Open.

In the -70kg category, Zoe Galbraith (Garioch JC) will look to build on a solid 2026 which has included Scottish Open gold and a top-seven finish in Samorin on the Cadet European Cup circuit.

In the men’s -55kg category, Reece Blackshaw (Penistone JC) enters the championships in strong form following a productive 2026 season so far, including gold at the English and Northern Ireland Opens, bronze at the International Masters Bremen, seventh at the Rome Cadet European Cup, and silver at the British Championships in 2025.

Good luck to the entire team competing this week!
