September 30, 2025

The stage is set for the upcoming Ares Judo Championships, where eight ambitious clubs will battle not only for prize money but also for coveted promotion into next year’s Ares Premiership.
The competition will take place at High Wycombe Judo Centre on Saturday, 11th October, promising another electrifying day of team-based judo.
This year’s Championship welcomes a balanced field of four returning teams and four newcomers, with representation from England, Scotland, and Ireland:

Co-founder Joe Chraniuk reflected on how far the Ares project has come in just a year:
“It’s incredible to see how far Ares has come in just one year. What started as an idea between myself and Aaron has grown into something truly special for British Judo – with the lights, the music, the energy, the social atmosphere, and of course the judo itself.
On Saturday 11th October, we cannot wait to introduce the very first Ares Championship. This event is all about giving developing clubs the chance to experience that same high energy and passion that defines Ares. To have 16 clubs involved with Ares – 8 in the Premiership and 8 in the Championship – is amazing, and it shows how much the judo community has embraced this vision.
With prize money on the line and the opportunity to earn promotion into the Ares Premiership, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Honestly, it’s going to be too close to call, but we are definitely in for a very exciting day and night of top class judo.”

Earlier this year, the Ares Premiership showcased that formula to stunning effect, with Camberley Judo Club crowned champions in a thrilling finale. Now, attention shifts to the Championship, where hungry clubs aim to prove they belong at the top table.
For the eight teams lining up in October, victory would mean more than silverware. With prize money on offer and promotion to the Premiership, the Championship has quickly become one of the most hotly anticipated fixtures on the British Judo calendar.
