Akrotiri Judo Club wins award at Cyprus Judo Federation Awards Ceremony
December 21, 2018
Head and Assistant Coaches Julie & Joshua Hemsley, along with the Club Chairman, Steve Hemsley attended the Annual Awards Ceremony of the Cyprus Judo Federation where they were awarded a trophy and engraved plate for the Clubs participation in events in 2018.
The Ceremony took place at the prestigious Olympic House in Nicosia, Cyprus on 1st December 2018 and it was an occasion to celebrate the Cypriot athletes that had won medals at the Pancyprian Championships and those that had represented Cyprus at various international events around the world.
It was also a time to recognise all of the clubs, both full and provisional members (as is the Akrotiri Judo Club) for their participation at the Pancyprian Championships and the many inter-club friendlies.
It was also a day to meet up again with friends from the Cyprus Judo Federation and all the clubs of the Republic of Cyprus whom Akrotiri Judo Club has started to forge close ties with – something they will look to continue to enhance in 2019.
Club Chairman, Sqn Ldr Steve Hemsley said “It is fantastic to be recognised for the team’s efforts. All of our judoka, parents, coaches and management team have worked hard in the Clubs first year. We have achieved so much in such a short space of time and we are very grateful to the Cyprus Judo Federation and the many clubs for their advice and assistance which is helping to develop our judoka.”
The Club looks forward to forging stronger ties with clubs in the Republic of Cyprus with attendance at further competitions and training events.
