Dozen aiming for medals in Paks

A dozen of British Judo’s top juniors will be in action this weekend at the 2016 Atomic Cup Junior European Cup in Paks, Hungary on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 July.

A number of the team go into the tournament in good form with Chelsie Giles (-52kg), Jodie Caller (-57kg), Lubjana Piovesana (-63kg) and Michelle Boyle (+78kg) all picking up gold medals at previous Junior European Cups earlier this year.

Giles and Piovesana both took home gold at the prestigious Leibnitz Junior European Cup in May and will be looking to bring that form to the mat this weekend while Piovesana also topped the podium in Hungary last year.

Acelya Toprak (-57kg) and Rhys Thompson (-100kg) have both been on the podium twice this year without taking gold but will also be ones to watch this weekend.

Women -44, -48, -52, -57 kg and Men -81, -90, -100, +100 kg will be competing on Saturday 9 July with Women -63, -70, -78, +78 kg and Men -55, -60, -66, -73 kg on the mat on Sunday 10 July.
