It was an outstanding weekend for Great Britain on the international stage, with medal success at the Mandurah Oceania Open and Mandurah Junior Oceania Open, alongside a strong showing at the Dushanbe Grand Slam.
Dushanbe Grand Slam
Max Gregory (Drake JC) delivered an impressive performance on his return to competition, securing a 7th-place finish in his first outing of the year. He made a strong statement in his opening contest, defeating a home favourite with a dominant display, signalling a confident return to form.
Mandurah Oceania Open
Aiden Moffat (Tayside JC) achieved one of the standout results of the weekend, claiming gold in the -66kg category. This marks his first senior international medal, and first international gold, representing a significant milestone in his career.
In the same category, Joshua Bell (Bishops Stortford JK) placed 5th, narrowly missing out on a podium finish.
Millie Bayliss (Bradley Stoke JC) also struck gold in the -63kg division. Facing Australian opponents in both the semi-final and final, Bayliss delivered superb performances to secure her first senior international gold medal. This builds on her recent bronze at the Tunis African Open and continues her strong run of form.
Holly Devall (Dragons Academy) extended her excellent season by taking gold in the -70kg category. Having already secured silver at the Casablanca African Open and bronze at the Tunis African Open, Devall has now medalled in all three of her international appearances this year.
Joshua Whitehouse (Judo Swansea) claimed Great Britain’s fourth gold medal of the event, topping the +100kg category. This marks his first international gold and his best result to date.
Oliver Short (Judo Scotland) earned silver in the -73kg division, delivering strong performances through the early rounds to reach the final. Competing in his first international event of the year, Short adds to his previous silver medal from the Hong Kong Asian Open in November 2025.
Ben Moore (Bradley Stoke JC) joined him on the podium, taking bronze in the -73kg category. This is his second consecutive bronze medal following his performance at the Dakar African Open, highlighting his growing consistency.
Kylan Aylward (Dragons Academy) secured bronze in the -81kg category, his best-ever international result. He clinched the medal in emphatic fashion, winning his final contest by yuko in just 13 seconds.
Laurence Hill (Dragons Academy) placed 5th in the -60kg category, improving on his previous best result of 7th at the Casablanca African Open. Competing up at senior level, this marks a promising step forward for the junior athlete.
Ashleigh Barnikel (Bradley Stoke JC) also finished 5th in the -48kg division, adding to her solid season, which already includes a bronze medal from the Tunis African Open.
