British Cadets Shine with Double Medal Success in Poreč as Juniors Compete in Móstoles
March 02, 2026

A busy weekend on the European circuit saw two British medallists and a host of strong placings across Croatia and Spain, as our athletes competed at the Poreč Cadet European Cup and the Móstoles Junior European Cup.
There were strong performances all round from the British Cadets who competed at the Poreč Cadet European Cup.
The -57kg division was incredibly strong for Great Britain, with two medals secured in the category to lead the way in Croatia.
Evie Mitchell (The Parks JC) claimed GB’s best result of the weekend with silver in the -57kg category, taking her first-ever European Cup medal, an incredible achievement to cap off a standout performance.
A dominant run saw Mitchell progress from the Round of 64 all the way to the semi-final without conceding a single score. In the semi-final, she fell behind to an early yuko but showed excellent composure to respond late in the contest with a waza-ari, booking her place in the final. There, she narrowly missed out on gold by a yuko margin.
An excellent performance from Mitchell in just her second-ever Cadet European Cup.
Joining her on the -57kg podium was Maisie Shattock (Bacup JC), who secured bronze, GB’s only other medal of the weekend and the first European Cup medal of her career.
Shattock was equally dominant in her early rounds, securing ippon victories in her opening three contests to reach the semi-final. After facing the eventual gold medallist, she regrouped superbly for the bronze medal contest, claiming victory by ippon in under three minutes to round off an excellent day of competition.
Katrina Davis (Sakura JC) secured a career-best Cadet European Cup result with fifth place in the -44kg division, building on her recent seventh-place finish at the Rome Cadet European Cup.
Davis showed impressive form in her opening contests but faced a tough draw, meeting the eventual gold medallist in the quarter-final. She responded strongly in repechage, recording two quick ippon victories to progress to the bronze medal match. She narrowly missed out on a podium finish by a single yuko, but it was another excellent step forward in her development.
Louie Seguin (Tonbridge JC) performed strongly in his third Cadet European Cup of 2026, achieving a career-best seventh-place finish in the -50kg division.
After dominant wins in the Round of 32 and Round of 16, Seguin faced the eventual bronze medallist in the quarter-final, battling toe-to-toe for much of the contest before moving into repechage. He responded with an emphatic ippon in under a minute in his first repechage bout, before bowing out after a hansoku-make in his following contest.
Aleksandra Dudko (Ealing JC) also delivered a strong performance in the -63kg category, securing her best-ever Cadet European Cup result with seventh place. This continues the form she showed earlier this year at the Casablanca Cadet African Cup, where she finished fifth.
Strong wins in her opening contests saw Dudko reach the quarter-final, where she faced the world number one and eventual gold medallist in the division. Moving into repechage, she claimed one victory before exiting the competition, rounding off another encouraging international performance.
It proved to be a challenging weekend for our Juniors at the Móstoles Junior European Cup, with just one placing secured from a highly competitive field.
Kate Chisholm (Judo Sensei London) was the sole British placer in Spain, securing seventh place in the -52kg category and continuing her consistent run of top-seven finishes at Junior European Cup level, following fifth-place results in Birmingham and Kaunas in 2025.
Chisholm produced strong performances in her opening Round of 64 and Round of 32 contests before facing the eventual gold medallist in the Round of 16, dropping into the repechage rounds. Two determined wins followed in the repechage before her day came to an end in her third repechage contest against the eventual bronze medallist.
A strong weekend overall for our young judoka in Croatia and Spain, demonstrating continued growth and valuable experience at the European level.
