National Rules Seminar – 21 Mar 26

March 21, 2026

British Judo are pleased to offer a Rules Seminar primarily for referees and coaches, it is mainly designed to disseminate the confirmed contest rules of 2026 and reinforce the key contest rules that are not changed.

The British seminar will include international referees at the sharp end on international duty.

Further to the IJF steer for the rules in 2026, British Judo will disseminate this guidance using feedback from the Paris Grand Slam in February 2026 as clarity for the delivery.

GBR encourage referees and coaches to work together to understand the interpretation principles more thoroughly to establish what is really happening and therefore the limits of what is allowed or not and why, this will help referees to manage contests more accurately and help coaches to educate their athletes for compliance with the applicable rule set. It is hoped that athletes can learn to better manage contests within the rules by avoiding penalty situations and score more frequently once they have a better understanding of precisely how the rules are intended to work in detail.

British Judo will continue their drive for excellence with VI and Adaptive rules tuition at the seminar with the hope to enable those matches to be managed more effectively across the country.

THIS IS A REVALIDATION EVENT FOR COACHES, NATIONAL B AND ABOVE REFEREES
