British Judo to Host Social Protect Webinar on Internet Safety Day

Social Protect, an award-winning, AI-powered app designed to help protect users from social media abuse, will be hosting a webinar for British Judo Association members and stakeholders on Internet Safety Day.

Social media plays an increasingly important role across sport, but online abuse and harmful comments can have a significant impact on wellbeing. Social Protect helps users manage their online spaces by automatically detecting and removing harmful comments across major social media platforms, supporting safer and more positive digital environments.

The platform is already used within elite sport, with UK Sport partnering with Social Protect as part of its wider commitment to safeguarding Olympic and Paralympic athletes from online abuse. This partnership recognises the challenges faced by athletes online and the importance of protecting mental wellbeing alongside performance.

Through this partnership, athletes on British Judo’s World Class Performance Programme have benefited from access to Social Protect, helping them reduce exposure to abusive and harmful online content.

Social Protect works with platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Discord, and YouTube, deleting harmful comments in under a second. The system uses a continually updated database of more than two million harmful phrases, covering over 100 languages, reflecting the global nature of online communities.

A free version of Social Protect is available, providing an accessible way for individuals to explore online safety tools and approaches to managing social media abuse.

To support British Judo members in developing their understanding of online safety and digital wellbeing, Social Protect will host a free webinar on Tuesday 10th February at 7:00pm. The session will provide an overview of online abuse in sport and demonstrate how members can use Social Protect to help protect themselves online.
