28 British Judoka to Compete at the Kata World Championships, Conegliano European Open and Györ Cadet Cup
November 07, 2025

It’s set to be a busy weekend as three squads of British judoka head to Italy, France, and Hungary to compete at the Conegliano European Open, Paris World Championships Kata, and Györ Cadet European Cup.
Conegliano European Open 2025
Twenty-two British senior judoka are set to compete this weekend at the Conegliano European Open.
In the -60kg category, Charlie Ayre (Tees Valley JC) and Benjamin Caldwell (Camberley JC) will represent Great Britain, while Finlay Allan (Camberley JC) will be the sole GB fighter in the -66kg division.
A strong trio of Tommy Jackson (East Yorkshire JA), Cameron Charles (Camberley JC), and Harry Le Mare (Camberley JC) will take to the tatami in the -73kg category.
In the -81kg division, Del Imrie (Jidel Judo 93), Rory Tyrrell (Camberley JC), and Eryk Neumann (Hardy Spicer 83) will lead the charge, while Joseph Kirk (Middlesbrough Judo), Spencer Lambert (Huddersfield JC), and Kenneth Harris (Royal Navy Judo) will contest the -90kg category.
Max Gregory (Drake JC) will compete in the -100kg division, with Daniel Ede (Westcroft JC) and Wesley Greenidge (Enfield JC) rounding out the men’s lineup in the +100kg category.
Caitlin Barber (Middlesbrough JC), Lola Hodson (Dragons Academy), and Maddy Kissenisky (East Yorkshire JA) will represent Great Britain in the -52kg division, while Lanina Solley will fight at -57kg.
Katie Mills (Camberley JC) will compete in the -63kg category, Maria Moss (Subarashi JC) in the -78kg division, and Lucy Williams (Anglia Ruskin University JC) completes the British team in the +78kg field.
Paris World Championships Kata 2025
This weekend will also see two British kata duos take on the world’s best at the 2025 Paris World Championships Kata.
Experienced pair Lewis Hannington and Jim Crompton will compete in Katame-no-kata, continuing to lead the way for British kata as they pursue their ambition of becoming the first senior British duo to medal at an EJU or IJF kata competition.
Hannington and Crompton competed at the 2024 Kata World Championships in Las Vegas, finishing 16th, and they’ll be aiming to build on that performance in Paris.
Joining them on the international stage will be first-time competitors Fiona Chan and Karen Roberts Castle, who will take part in Itsutsu-no-kata.
This marks their debut at an international kata event, a significant challenge, but it’s fantastic to see another British pair stepping up to immerse themselves in the world of kata and test themselves against the best at the World Championships.
Gyor Cadet European Cup 2025
There will be just two British athletes in action this weekend at the Györ Cadet European Cup in Hungary.
James Leroux will compete in the -55kg category, his first Cadet European Cup of the year and only the second of his career. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the young judoka to gain valuable international experience and continue his development on the European stage.
Maisie Broadley will take to the mat in the -48kg division for her seventh European Cadet event of 2025, building an impressive level of experience throughout the year as she looks to achieve her best result yet.
Good luck to everyone competing this weekend!
