
2026 Cadet European Championships Squad Announced

The British Judo Association is proud to announce the talented young squad selected to represent Great Britain at the 2026 Cadet European Championships, taking place from 29 June to 2 July in Gran Canaria, Spain.
Following a highly competitive selection process across both domestic and international events, the Identification Panel has confirmed a strong team to represent Great Britain, highlighting the next generation of elite British judo talent.
Reece Blackshaw (Penistone JC) -55kg
Blackshaw has enjoyed an impressive run of form in 2026, claiming bronze at the International Masters Bremen alongside gold medals at both the English Open and Northern Ireland Open. He also secured silver at the British Championships at the end of 2025 and placed seventh at the Rome Cadet European Cup earlier this year, underlining his consistency across both national and international competition.
Katrina Davis (Sakura JC) -44kg
Davis enters the Championships as the reigning British Champion and has enjoyed a standout year, with victories at the 2025 Welsh Open and this year’s English and Scottish Opens. She has also produced strong performances on the European circuit, finishing fifth at the Porec Cadet European Cup and seventh in Rome, continuing her steady progression towards the podium.
Maisie Broadley (Wirral JC) -52kg
Broadley returns to the Cadet European Championships for a second consecutive year. She is the current British Champion and has also secured titles at the Scottish and Welsh Opens, in addition to a silver medal at the English Open. With multiple appearances on the Cadet European Cup circuit this year, including a seventh-place finish in Rome, she brings valuable international experience into the competition.
Evie Mitchell (The Parks JC) -57kg
Mitchell has already demonstrated her ability on the European stage this season, earning a silver medal at the Porec Cadet European Cup. She also holds both the British Championships and Scottish Open titles, marking her as one of the leading athletes in her weight category.
Maisie Shattock (Bacup JC) -57kg
This marks Shattock’s second consecutive selection for the Cadet European Championships. She heads into the event in strong form, having secured bronze at the Porec Cadet European Cup earlier this year, along with the Welsh Open title. A seventh-place finish in Rome further adds to her growing international experience.
Zoe Galbraith (Garioch JC) -70kg
Galbraith is the current Scottish Open champion and has shown promise on the European circuit, with a best result of seventh place at the Samorin Cadet European Cup earlier this year, which she will look to build on at her first European Championships.
GB Home Nations Coach, Chloe Cowen, said: “This selection reflects an important stage of the athletes’ development towards representing Great Britain.
“It reflects the hard work, development, and commitment of each athlete, along with the support of their families, clubs, and home nation programmes.
“We’re proud of everyone involved and pleased that the team will be supported by Judo Scotland Performance Pathway Coach, Takafumi Kitahara and Talent Development Coach, Jason Parsons.
“We wish the team every success and good luck in Gran Canaria.”
With a blend of proven champions and emerging talent, the British squad will head to Gran Canaria with confidence and ambition as they take on Europe’s best in this prestigious championship event.
