2025 British Championships – Weekend Results

The 2025 British Championships produced a packed weekend of senior, junior, cadet and pre-cadet competition, with 747 athletes from 166 clubs across Great Britain contesting national titles in every weight category.

Seniors

The senior categories saw a mix of experienced podium regulars and breakthrough performances, with several finals going deep into golden score.

The −60kg category saw Benjamin Caldwell (Camberley JC) claim gold following a dominant run through the draw, overcoming Joseph Buchanan (Sportif) in the final in just 28 seconds. Buchanan’s route to silver included several demanding contests, but just missed out on the top step of the podium on this occasion. Bronze medals went to Sam Eaton (Bishops Stortford JK) and Ayoub Dafallah (Palavani).

At −66kg, Peter Miles (Bradley Stoke JC) secured the British title after navigating a deep and competitive field. He faced Neil MacDonald (Judo Scotland) in the final, with MacDonald taking silver after showing consistent composure throughout the day. Bronze medals were won by Aiden Moffat (Tayside JC) and Alfie Mitchell (RAF Judo).

In the −73kg division, Benjamin Levy (Budokwai) emerged as champion following a series of controlled, technical performances. Harry Le Mare (Camberley JC) took silver after an impressive run to the final, highlighted by a standout semi-final victory. Bronze medals were awarded to Irakli Goginashvili (Palavani) and Cameron Charles (Camberley JC).

The −81kg title went to Lachlan Moorhead (Penistone JC), who produced a confident day on the mat. He met Rory Tyrrell (Camberley JC) in the final, with Tyrrell finishing with silver after a number of strong performances earlier in the day. Bronze medals were claimed by Eryk Neumann (Hardy Spicer 83) and Benjamin Fox Kennedy (Camberley JC).

At −90kg, Scott Cusack (Edinburgh Judo) was crowned British champion after a commanding display across the category. Spencer Lambert (Huddersfield JC) earned silver following a demanding route to the final. Bronze medals went to Cameron Reid-Thomas and Cameron Hickey, both of Camberley JC.

The −100kg division saw Oliver Barratt (Dragons Academy) take gold after a series of powerful performances. He faced Kevin Gordon (Hibari Kan JC) in the final, with Gordon finishing with silver after showing strong form throughout the competition. Bronze medals were secured by George Riley (Team Bath) and Jaden Calder (JC Esprit).

Rounding out the men’s competition, the +100kg title was claimed by Joshua Whitehouse (Judo Swansea) after a strong campaign that concluded with victory over Gregor Miller (Garioch Judo), who took silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Andrew McWatt (Garioch Judo) and John Gussow (Tees Valley Judo).

In the −48kg category, Summer Shaw (Camberley JC) claimed the British title following a composed day of competition. Lexi Buchanan (Sportif) earned silver after a strong run through the draw.
Bronze medals were won by Elizabeth Cheminais (Waterloo JC) and Ashleigh Barnikel (Bradley Stoke JC).

At −52kg, Lola Hodson (Dragons Academy) secured gold after progressing confidently through the field. Amelia Alder (Team Bath) took silver, narrowly missing out on the top step of the podium after a series of competitive matches. Bronze medals went to Kate Chisholm (Judo Sensei London) and Harriet Jones (Pro Judo).

The −57kg division saw Acelya Toprak (Camberley JC) take gold after a composed sequence of contests. She met Lele Nairne (Bradley Stoke JC) in an engaging final. Bronze medals were claimed by Tomi Imrie (Jidel Judo 93) and Lanina Solley (Camberley JC).

At −63kg, Ammi Takahashi (Ealing JC) emerged as British champion, with Roxy Proctor (Team Bath) earning silver after a demanding run through the final block. Bronze medals were awarded to Taliah Blackwell (No Club Stated) and Katie Mills (Camberley JC).

The −70kg category saw Kelly Petersen Pollard (Hardy Spicer 83) secure gold, meeting Holly Devall (Dragons Academy) in the final, who took home the silver medal. Bronze medals went to Anika Rabi (Team Bath) and Gwen Lloyd (Hardy Spicer 83).

At −78kg, Emma Reid (Redbridge JC) successfully defended her British title after another strong showing. She once again faced long-time rival Shelley Ludford (Osaka JC), who delivered a determined performance to take silver. Bronze medals were won by Maria Moss (Subarashi JC) and Anya Hassan (Blyth Juno Michi).

The senior women’s competition concluded with Chloe Nunn (Bishops Stortford JK) claiming the +78kg title after an excellent day on the tatami. Abigail Guest (Wolverhampton JC) secured silver, while bronze medals went to Cordelia Quinlan (Wirral JC) and Lucy Williams (Anglia Ruskin Uni JC).

Juniors

The junior divisions were particularly competitive, with several weights featuring large entries and tightly contested medal matches.

The −55kg category saw Ishmael Brown (Hardy Spicer 83) take gold, defeating Adrijus Staliunas (Camberley JC) in the final. Bronze medals were awarded to Elliot Marie (Budokwai) and Sid Bartlett (Medway Park JC).

At −60kg, Joseph Buchanan (Sportif) emerged as champion following a demanding draw, with David Gheorghiu (Nippon Club London) taking silver. Bronze medals went to Coen Gilbert (Sportif) and Laurence Hill (Dragons Academy).

The −66kg division saw Alfie Mitchell (RAF Judo) secure gold after a composed day, meeting Joshua Chrisp (Blyth Juno Michi) in the final. Bronze medals were claimed by Jacob Shattock (Bacup JC) and Bobby Pusey (Micklefield JC).

In the −73kg category, Irakli Goginashvili (Palavani) topped one of the largest junior draws and continued the excellent form which has led him to a gold medal at the Junior European Championships and bronze at the Junior World Championships in 2025, with Finlay Strang (Danderhall JC) earning silver. Bronze medals went to Eden Heffernan (Pro Judo) and Jack MacLeod (Garioch Judo).

The −81kg title was secured by Peter Davies (Ealing JC), who went to war with Oriol Rubio Ruiz (Bradley Stoke JC) in the final, lasting almost six minutes into golden score. Bronze medals were awarded to Nikoloz Shengelia (Palavani) and Vasiliy Menshykov (Garioch Judo).

At −90kg, Gheorghe Tataru (Palavani) claimed gold, with Peter Crawford (Kin Ryu JC) taking silver. Bronze medals went to Arad Ghafoori Rad (Pro Judo) and Scott Render (Hull JC).

The −100kg division saw Kevin Gordon (Hibari Kan JC) take gold over Scottish rival Jaden Calder (JC Esprit). Bronze medals were won by George Riley (Team Bath) and Quinn Armstrong (The Judo Academy).

The −44kg division saw Tamilla Abdullaeva (Redbridge JC) take gold after a composed run through the category, with Katrina Davis (Sakura JC) earning silver following her progression to the final stages. Bronze medals were awarded to Korinna Maganaris (SKK JC) and Fearne Currie (JC Esprit).

At −48kg, Eva Ewing (Edinburgh Judo) topped the podium after negotiating a competitive field, while Maisie Broadley (Wirral JC) secured silver. Bronze medals went to Lexi Buchanan (Sportif) and Daisy Hodgkinson (Team Bath).

The −52kg category saw Lola Hodson (Dragons Academy) claim gold following a confident day’s work, with Kate Chisholm (Judo Sensei London) finishing with silver after reaching the latter stages of the competition. Bronze medals were awarded to Amelia Alder (Team Bath) and Harriet Jones (Pro Judo).

In the −57kg division, Rhea Pinder (Relentless JC) secured gold after a strong run through the draw, while Maisie Shattock (Bacup JC) took silver. Bronze medals were claimed by Keira Semete (Tonbridge JC) and Evie Mitchell (The Parks JC).

The −63kg title went to Lucy Windle (SKK JC), who emerged on top after progressing through the category, with Zaffira Edwards (Edinburgh Judo) earning silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Brónach McGill (Sportif) and Aleksandra Dudko (Ealing JC).

At −70kg, Paige Keane (Dragons Academy) came through to take gold, while Ruby O’Neill (Wirral JC) claimed silver after advancing deep into the draw. Bronze medals went to Karina Semete (Tonbridge JC) and Leah Starmore (Hardy Spicer 83).

The −78kg division saw Joanna Witkowska (FIJ) secure gold following a solid performance across the category, with Elle-Sky Sturman (The Judo Company) finishing with silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Alexandra Mia Simpson (Blyth Juno Michi) and Kirsty Wilson (Edinburgh Judo).

Rounding out the section, the +78kg title was claimed by Cordelia Quinlan (Moonrakers JC), with Deborah Oneal (Ealing JC) taking silver.

Cadets

Cadet categories highlighted the strength of the development pathway, with multiple athletes doubling up across the weekend.

−42kg saw Cuthbert Walker (Tees Valley Judo) take gold after progressing through the draw, with Yarden Hadad (Ealing JC) securing silver following his run to the later stages. Bronze medals were awarded to Anatole Vong (Moberly JC) and Arman Shabazi (Mat Warriors JC).

−46kg action concluded with Ashwin Yoganathan (Samurai Olympic JC) claiming gold, while Coby Sweetland (Sportif) finished with silver after advancing through the category. The bronze medals was awarded to Simon Walsh (Pro Judo).

In the −50kg division, Louie Seguin (Tonbridge JC) emerged on top, with Michael Puskas (Stratford JK) taking silver after reaching the closing rounds. Bronze medals were awarded to Finlay Whitelaw (Pro Judo) and Samuel McAllister (Pro Judo).

−55kg honours went to Jamie Leroux (Rush Judo), who secured gold following a steady progression, while Reece Blackshaw (Penistone JC) earned silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Ishmael Brown (Hardy Spicer 83) and Harry Egleton (Bishop Stortford JK).

The −60kg category saw Chayse Franklin (Micklefield JC) take gold, with Michael Richardson (Blyth Juno Michi) finishing second after advancing through the field. Bronze medals were awarded to Pawel Petrosyan (Sakura JC) and Jacob Foster (Sportif).

At −66kg, Zachary Robbins (Leicester JA) topped the podium, while Ciprian Cirstea (Kangei JC) secured silver after reaching the latter stages. Bronze medals were awarded to Freddie Allen (Bradley Stoke) and Seitaro Suzuki-Seago (Camberley Judo).

The −73kg division saw Luka Abashidze (Bishop Stortford JK) claim gold in a large field, with Sean McAleese (Sportif) taking silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Alexey Pavluhin (Palavani) and Finley Waugh (Wirral JC).

In the −81kg category, Harri Elliott (High Wycombe JC) secured gold after progressing through the draw, while Lucas Iosebashvili (Palavani) finished with silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Keanu Bracher (Bradley Stoke) and Mohammed El-Amir (Core Judo).

The −90kg event saw Todor Angelov (Swinton JC) take gold, with Boyan Todorov (Medway Park) earning silver. The bronze medal went to Mert Salim (Toshi Kazoku JK).

−40kg saw Tabitha Callaghan (JC Esprit) secure gold as the sole podium finisher.

In the −44kg division, Katrina Davis (Sakura JC) claimed gold after navigating the category, while Tamilla Abdullaeva (Redbridge JC) took silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Jasmin Yoganathan (Samurai Olympic JC) and Mahnoor Mirza (Judo Sensei London).

The −48kg category saw Maisie Broadley (Wirral JC) finish on top, with Lexi Buchanan (Sportif) securing silver after progressing through the draw. Bronze medals were awarded to Neve Dodds (Tees Valley Judo) and Betsy Doe (Pro Judo).

At −52kg, Elizabeth Merredew (Bishop Stortford JK) topped the podium, while Sophie Cook (Pinewood JC) earned silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Lucy Daly (Highland Budokan) and Hongor Zolboo (Moberly JC).

The −57kg division saw Evie Mitchell (The Parks JC) claim gold, with Taylor Chrisp (Blyth Juno Michi) taking silver after advancing to the latter stages. Bronze medals were awarded to Stella Cameron (Whitburn JC) and Maisie Shattock (Bacup JC).

In the −63kg category, Aleksandra Dudko (Ealing JC) secured gold, while Myia Agnero (Ealing JC) finished with silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Emme Simpson (Blyth Juno Michi) and Sophie Rush (Rush Judo).

The −70kg event saw Robyn Davies (Ealing JC) take gold, with Zoe Galbraith (Highland Budokan) collecting silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Hanna Marczak (Judo Sensei London) and Araya Wilson (Pinewood JC).

In the +70kg category, Deborah O’Neal (Ealing JC) secured gold, while Lilly McGarry (Sportif) finished second. Bronze medals were awarded to Summer Lyons-Ashworth (SKK JC) and Lois Goldie (Pro Judo).

Pre-Cadets

Pre-cadet categories showed excellent promise, with confident performances across all weight divisions.

−34kg saw Bence Varga (Wirral JC) take gold, with Erinas Aukstikalnis (Relentless) earning silver after progressing through the draw. Bronze medals were awarded to Ethan Gomes (Kangei JC) and Jack Morris (High Wycombe JC).

In the −38kg division, Innes Whitelaw (Pro Judo) topped the podium, while Benjamin Lines (Bishop Stortford JK) finished with silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Robbie Young (Team AS Judo) and Roibin Gallagher (Southside Judo).

The −42kg category saw James Brae (Bradley Stoke JC) claim gold, with Jack Deniz (Pudsey JC) securing silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Maison Jackson (Moberly JC) and Maximilian Cybulskij (GB Top Team).

At −46kg, George Rowson (Rush Judo) took gold after advancing through the field, while Keir O’Connor (Pro Judo) finished with silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Tylan Volkan (Relentless Judo) and Aleksandr Bondar (Nippon Club London).

The −50kg division saw Ismael Mirza (Judo Sensei London) secure gold, with Oscar Zajankauskas (Palavani) taking silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Joseph Dewsnip (SKK JC) and William Caldwell (Whitburn JC).

In the −55kg category, Kasjan Matyjaszkowicz (Hackney JC) topped the podium, while Magnus Thompson (Destination Judo) earned silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Carlo Pellicci (JC Esprit) and Sage Street (Core Judo).

The −60kg event saw Aaryan Sorathia (Moberly JC) take gold, with Jude Buchanan (Sportif) finishing second. Bronze medals were awarded to Lorenzo Justino (Tayside JC) and Robert Simpson (Team AS Judo).

At −66kg, Jake Barr (Bishop Stortford JK) secured gold, while Angus Mowat (Highland Budokan) earned silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Aaron Sokolowski (Sportif) and Robert Dixon (Bredakwai JA).

The −73kg division saw Nikita Goldan (Osterley JC) claim gold, with Finley French (Cardiff JA) taking silver. The bronze medal went to Charlie Head (Camberley).

In the +73kg category, Maciej Aleksandrovic (Judokai Romford) secured gold, while Luke Byrne (Camberley) finished with silver.

−40kg saw Olivia Smith (Southside Judo) take gold, with Daisy-Mo Hucker (Full Fat Grappling) earning silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Grace Wilson (Rush Judo).

The −44kg division saw Grace Melia (Tees Valley Judo) secure gold, while Hannah Hucker (Full Fat Grappling) took silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Wren Compton (Kingsley School JC) and Hannah McAllister (Pro Judo).

In the −48kg category, Daisy O’Brian (Wirral JC) claimed gold, with Ava-Lucia Hayman (Wirral JC) finishing with silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Layla Illingworth (Middlesbrough JC) and Sophia Austin (Tees Valley Judo).

At −52kg, Evelyn Doherty (Tees Valley Judo) topped the podium, while Darcy Davies (Ford JC) earned silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Orla Spencer (DNA Craven JA) and Elise King (Bishops Stortford JK).

The −57kg division saw Isabelle Davies (Judo Swansea) take gold, with Ella Leung (Kin Ryu JC) securing silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Ruby Finney (SKK JC) and Jessica Mozyro (Alpha JC).

In the −63kg category, Pelin Ozturk (Ippon Judo London) secured gold, while Kayleigh Davis (Sakura JC) finished with silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Lily Todd (JSC JC) and Elizabeth Smith (Sportif).

The +70kg event saw Camryn Carter (Stewart JA) take gold, with Deena Solomon (Ealing JC) earning silver. Bronze medals were awarded to Elsie Relph (Tees Valley Judo).

Congratulations to everyone who stepped onto the podium over the weekend. Whether it was a first national medal or the latest in a long list, reaching the podium at a British Championship is always a significant achievement and a reward for the work put in both on and off the mat.

Congratulations also go to Ealing Judo Club, who finished top of the overall medal table across the championships. It was an outstanding collective performance and a clear reflection of the depth and consistency shown by the club throughout the weekend.
