DESCRIPTION:This course is now fully booked\nBJA Safeguarding Children & Adults Course \nThursday 26th February 2026 17:30-20:30 – Online Interactive Classroom \nWe look forward to you joining us on the three-hour BJA Safeguarding Children & Adults Course. \nThis will be blended learning experience online with interactive activities\, you will need to have your camera on for the duration of this training. \nCourse aim & learning outcomes: \nAim: To promote best for Safeguarding with Children & Young People and Adults within the BJA \nYou must be aged 18 or over to attend this course\nLearning Outcomes: \n\nTo understand the policies\, procedures and legislation which underpin our role\nTo increase skills and confidence when engaging with safeguarding issues and in recognising the indicators of abuse\nTo promote best practice when contributing to ‘recognising\, responding\, referring & recording’ safeguarding concerns\nUnderstanding the impact of abuse and trauma on children\nTo gain up to date knowledge on current issues of risk that impact on Children & Young People\nTo raise awareness and familiarisation of BJA and local procedures relating to referrals & reporting\n\nBJA are offering the children & adult safeguarding course as an online interactive classroom for not just CWOs and Coaches as a validation and/or revalidation but this is open to referees\, officials\, Tournament Directors etc. Its about a space for learning and continuous professional development. \nWe look forward to seeing you on the training. \nTo clarify the duration of the course is 3 hours and this equates with national standards for a Level 2 Safeguarding course. \nCIMPSA Quality Assure all it’s products Annually in July & August 2025 our QA report enables us to continually review and update this learning experience. \n \n  \n  \n  \nFor further information on how we handle your data\, please read our Privacy Notice: https://www.britishjudo.org.uk/privacy-policy/

SUMMARY:Contest Rules Update Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Referees of all levels are invited to attend a virtual rule update seminar at 7:00pm on Tuesday 11th February led by British Judo’s Refereeing Commission.\nCoaches with other BJA members also welcome to attend. \nIt comes following the announcement that following approval by the BJA\, the International Judo Federation’s 2025 contest rules will be adopted\, with limited adaptations for younger judoka\, at all British events effective from 22nd February 2025\, beginning with the English Open. \nThe new rules have been introduced following a review of the 2022-24 Olympic cycle to increase the opportunities to score and win\, to provide greater technical freedom to judoka and to reduce the number of technical penalties and disqualifications awarded. \nWe are adopting the new ruleset at pace in the expectation that this will maximise the opportunity for judoka and officials to learn and benefit from the new rules. However\, this will be a learning experience for everyone – coaches\, athletes and referees – and we would ask that everyone acknowledge and show understanding that some mistakes will be a natural part of adapting to the new ruleset. We would like to remind the judo community of our morale code whilst all parties adapt to the new rules. \nFull details of the 2025 rules and the BJA application of them are available in our updated rulebooks on our Contest Rules section\, with all existing BJA amendments (eg. technical restrictions) will continue to apply alongside these changes.
