DESCRIPTION:  \nThe National Kata Championships will take place on Saturday 6 September 2025 at St Albans Judo Club\, Batchwood Golf and Sports Centre\, Batchwood Drive\, St Albans\, Herts AL3 5XA \nThe event is a great opportunity for judoka to test their kata skills. \n  \nEligibility \nAll competitors must have a current FULL BJA\, JS\, WJA\, NIJF\, BJC or AJA licence to enter this “closed” National Championships. \n  \nCategories \nADULTS: \n\nNage-no-kata\nKatame-no-kata\nJu-no-kata\nKime-no-kata\nKodokan Goshin-jutsu\nItsutsu-no-kata\n\n  \nYOUTH (Under 16 years on the day): \n\nNage-no-kata (first 3 sets only)\nKatame-no-kata (first 2 sets only)\nJu-no-kata (first set only)\n\nYouth players wishing to present other kata may enter the adult section. \n  \n  \nBooking-In \nAll kata: 9.00-9.30 am. \n  \n  \nStandards \nThe reference standard for all kata is the relevant Kodokan teaching film.\nStrictly white judogi only. \n  \n  \nAssessment \nThe IJF kata tournament marking system will not be used for this tournament.\nEach technique will be scored out of 10\, with 10 representing a perfect execution\, and 0 given for an omitted or totally incorrect technique.\nThere will be additional marks out of 10 for opening and closing etiquette. \n  \n  \nSpectators \nSpectators are welcome\, free of charge – you do not have to have players competing to spectate.\nPlease note that silence and decorum must be maintained whenever a kata is being presented. \n  \n  \nEntry \nEntry fee: Adult kata £20 per pair; Youth kata £14 per pair.\nEach individual competitor is limited to entering no more than 2 kata.\nCompetitors are allowed to participate in each kata only once\, and only in one age category per kata.\nClosing date for entries: Friday 22nd August 2025.\nAll pairs MUST enter by the closing date so that paperwork can be prepared.
