SUMMARY:National Rules Seminar - 21 Mar 26
DESCRIPTION:British Judo are pleased to offer a Rules Seminar primarily for referees and coaches\, it is mainly designed to disseminate the confirmed contest rules of 2026 and reinforce the key contest rules that are not changed. \nThe British seminar will include international referees at the sharp end on international duty. \nFurther to the IJF steer for the rules in 2026\, British Judo will disseminate this guidance using feedback from the Paris Grand Slam in February 2026 as clarity for the delivery. \nGBR encourage referees and coaches to work together to understand the interpretation principles more thoroughly to establish what is really happening and therefore the limits of what is allowed or not and why\, this will help referees to manage contests more accurately and help coaches to educate their athletes for compliance with the applicable rule set. It is hoped that athletes can learn to better manage contests within the rules by avoiding penalty situations and score more frequently once they have a better understanding of precisely how the rules are intended to work in detail. \nBritish Judo will continue their drive for excellence with VI and Adaptive rules tuition at the seminar with the hope to enable those matches to be managed more effectively across the country. \nTHIS IS A REVALIDATION EVENT FOR COACHES\, NATIONAL B AND ABOVE REFEREES \nDates / Times:  21st March 2026 Start 10.00\, End 17.00 \n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n\nIf the form does not appear below it is likely due to your device settings.\nPlease clear your “Cookies” and/or open this page in a private window IE. SUMMARY:Judo & Life - 21 Jun 25 - Walsall
DESCRIPTION:As judo coaches\, we all instinctively know that our great sport has at least as much to offer to participants away from the mat in everyday life as it has on it\, but it can sometimes be difficult to articulate exactly what this looks like. \nThis 3-hour BJA coach revalidation course attempts to begin to offer one possible definition. You will be taken through a simple 8-point presentation on how judo principles can be used in a school classroom context delivering any curriculum subject effectively by engaging pupils and managing their behaviour. \nThese principles have been tried and tested over nearly a decade with school staff in multiple contexts including primary\, secondary\, 16-18 colleges & initial teacher training higher education establishments. They have always been universally well received. The objective is two-fold: Because all of us need to manage our junior players’ behaviour at some level\, the 8 principles\, taken at face value\, will hopefully be helpful to you to do this more effectively before you even get back on the mat at your club. \nSecondly\, and perhaps more significantly\, you will be able to see ways in which you can apply similar judo principles to your own context and help those in your world who you do life with\, whether that is through your own day to day work\, relationships with your family\, how you spend your leisure time\, or whatever. I look forward to meeting you at one of the sessions. \nDate/Times: \nSaturday 21st June 2025 from 10:00 until 13:00 \nVenue: \nBJA National Training Centre\, University of Wolverhampton (Walsall Campus)\, Gorway Road\nWalsall\, West Midlands WS1 3BD \nDirections \nParking is free onsite \nCost: \n£20 \nOrganiser: \nChristian Pountain – christian.pountain@sky.com – 07378 765254 \nRequirement: \nYou must be at least a BJA Level 1 coach to attend \nThis is a British Judo Association Licensed Coach Education/Revalidation Course \n\n\n
