Combining workshop activities\, practical coaching sessions and guided discussion\, participants will examine how curiosity\, questioning and contemporary learning principles can enhance both coaching effectiveness and athlete performance. \nThe seminar is designed to provide coaches with practical tools and strategies that can be applied immediately within club\, development and performance environments. \nLearning Outcomes \nParticipants will: \n\nUnderstand key principles of modern coaching and skill acquisition.\nDevelop effective questioning\, observation and feedback skills.\nExplore the use of purposeful technical randori and constraint-based learning.\nImprove their understanding of tactical awareness and continuous transition in modern judo.\nGain practical coaching tools that support decision-making\, adaptability and performance.\n\nSession 1: The Prime \nA classroom-based workshop introducing the coaching and learning models that underpin the practical sessions.\nTopics include: \n\nModern coaching principles\nCuriosity as a coaching tool\nQuestioning and feedback techniques\nObservation and noticing skills\nFADS framework\nStages of skill acquisition\nCreating environments that encourage exploration and learning\n\nSession 2: Technical Development Through Purposeful Randori \nA practical session demonstrating how coaches can progress athletes from technical understanding to effective application.\nKey themes include: \nThe 5A Learning Model \n\nSkill acquisition in practice\nOpen Randori\nConstraint-based coaching\nScenario design\nDeveloping decision-making and tactical awareness\n\nParticipants will experience\, analyse and design learning activities that move beyond traditional randori and promote adaptable performance under pressure. \nSession 3: Continuous Transition – Knowledge into Application \nA live coaching workshop exploring tactical awareness\, decision-making and continuous transition in modern judo. \nParticipants will apply the tools introduced earlier through observation\, discussion and practical coaching activities\, while examining how modern coaching principles can be used to develop more adaptable athletes. \nReflection and Review \nThe seminar concludes with a facilitated review of key learning points\, practical takeaways and action planning\, helping participants connect the coaching models explored throughout the day and identify applications within their own coaching environments \nThis is a British Judo Association Licensed Coach Education/Revalidation Course
