NATIONAL RANDORI > Every Tuesday, 7:30 – 9:30pm

Attendance at the weekly National Randori is imperative if we are going to develop players who can perform at the highest level, everyone who attends, will gain a competitive advantage.


The first National Randori of 2019 will be on TUESDAY 8 JANUARY 2019, but the British Judo Centre of Excellence will be open from the 3 January onwards with the following Randori Sessions open to all GB Squad athletes:


  • Thu 3 Jan 2 – 4pm              Randori
  • Fri 4 Jan            10 – 11:30am    Randori



World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)

Every year, on the 1 January, WADA update and publish the new Prohibited List that identifies the substances and methods prohibited to athletes in- and out-of-competition.




It is the Athlete’s RESPONSIBILITY to be fully aware of the Prohibited List and what medication or supplements they take.

2019 GB Squad Online Registration System (SORS)


It is essential that all medallists from the 2018 British Junior and Senior Championships complete their SORS to confirm their place on the 2019 GB Squad and to be eligible to be invited to ONST and self-fund to IJF World Ranking Events.  Please check the letter handed to you in Sheffield for further information.

IMPORTANT:  Please also sign and return the Athlete Code of Conduct & Agreement in the pre-paid envelope provided along with the Locus Parentis Form if you are u18yrs.

Only when the Squad Online Registration is completed, that the athlete will be confirmed as a member to the 2019 GB Squad.

All co-options will be considered and confirmed in the first week of January.

Post Mission 2020 review and given that we achieved all of our MST for 2018, our UK Sport Tokyo 2020 medal targets remain as follows:


  • Olympic > 1 – 2 Medals
  • Paralympic > 1 – 2 Medals


Additionally, the number of athletes that UK Sport will support on the World Class Performance Programme and who will also receive an Athlete Performance Award (APA) to support their Judo programme remain the same.

All 2019 GB Junior and Senior Squad Athletes are eligible to self-fund to IJF World Ranking events as below, please ensure that you are fully aware of the policy and stick to the timelines as outlined.

  • GB Senior Squad athletes can self-fund to IJF Continental Opens, Grand Prix, and Senior European Cups
  • GB Senior Squad athletes ranked in the World Top 35 of the IJF WRL can self-fund to IJF Grand Slams
  • GB Junior Squad athletes can self-fund to IJF Continental Opens, Senior and Junior European Cups
  • HN athletes can self-fund to Senior and Junior European Cups

Please be aware of the process and ensure that your self-funding applications are received within the deadline dates. This applies to ALL GB Squad athletes including WCPP and Academy athletes.

It is important that ALL players applying to Self-Fund to IJF Events when a GB Team is in attendance, respect the conditions of the Self-Fund policy and apply within the 6-week deadline date.


Any applications received after the 6-week deadline date, will not be considered.


Effective from 2019, all deadline dates will have a 12:00noon time deadline – no exceptions will be made!
