* Fighter Selected at First Stage.
# Fighter Selected as non-travelling Reserve.
Due to this unprecedented time that we are in and the subsequent cancellation of IJF/EJU and domestic events worldwide, and British Judo’s Return to Competition Risk Assessment published on the 9 October 2020 following a comprehensive consultation process, it was decided to consider additional fighters for this event in line with the Tokyo and Paris strategy, considering the opportunity to expose Paris potential fighters to a Senior championship event as part of their longer-term development.
These delayed Second & Final Stage Selections have been made and announced within the timelines set out in the recent British Judo’s Return to Competition Risk Assessment communication, being week 43, week commencing 19 October.
This now completes the GB Selections for the 2020 Senior European Championships.
All selected fighters have the right to “Opt-Out” without judgement and decline their selection and participation at this event due to any concerns they may have around the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Opt-in Video Calls will take place from w/c 26th October.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the short amount of time before the Championships, there will not be any opportunity on this occasion to hold a European Preparation Camp or Team Media Session.
As per the 2020 Senior European Championships selection procedure, all selected fighters MUST compete in Adidas Judogi that will be (or already has been) provided by British Judo. Fighters will be required to supply and fix their own backpatches to their Adidas Judogi and supply their own belt.
All selections continue to be dependent on fighters adhering to British Judo’s Performance Programme and Code of Conduct Policy.
Full event arrangements including Covid-19 protocols and requirements will be send to all members of the GB Delegation in due course. Anyone found breaking Covid-19 Protocols which puts the remainder of the GB Delegation at risk will be withdrawn from the event with immediate effect.
I am sure you will join us in wishing the selected fighters every success at this prestigious event.
IMPORTANT NOTE – If it is deemed unsafe to attend the 2020 European Championships in the run up to the event and the risk too high, then British Judo reserve the right to withdraw the whole team with immediate effect. The Covid situation here in the UK, Prague, and Europe, will be continually assessed on a week-to-week basis.
